The Nigerian Federal Government has ordered the closure of the country’s borders for Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Mr. Muhammad Babandede, the Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS),  revealed in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, that the order was announced by Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd).

His words;

“As per the National Assembly and Presidential and elections happening in February. 23rd, 2019, the minister has ordered the closure of all Nigeria’s Land Borders effective from Friday, February. 22nd to Sunday, February. 24th, 2019.

“movements across the border is prohibited during the elections. “The public should take note and make sure they comply accordingly.”
