In an announcement made by blackberry few hours ago, its messenger app BBM, will be shut down permanently on May 31, 2019.
Before the iPhone was launched and for many years afterwards, Blackberry messenger was a vital communication method on all BlackBerry phones.
Since blackberry has failed to evolve, it was rather aiming to keep its app alive with iOS that’s been available since 2013, but with iMessages, WhatsApp, WeChat, and other tons of messaging apps, it’s been tough for blackberry’s messenger app to remain relevant.
The phone company tried to upgrade its chatting app three years ago as an application for chatting, viewing video content, and using payment services, but it all failed woefully.
What Blackberry said:
We emptied our hearts into making this a reality, and we are pleased with what we have done to date.
The tech business in any case, is liquid, and despite our considerable endeavors, users have proceeded onward to different stages, while new users are finding it rather hard to sign on.
In spite of the fact that we are sad to bid a fond farewell, the opportunity has arrived to nightfall the BBM user service, and for us to proceed onward.
BBM users who don’t need the service to end can download BBMe through the Google Play store, as the venture form of the app is as yet accessible. There is no rendition for iOS, yet CNET says an iOS app is in progress.
