Not more than 10 people have lost their lives and more than a dozen others injured after a Wajir-bound bus collided with a trailer on the Garissa-Mwingi road, Mwingi in Kenya.

The accident happened in just a few minutes to midnight on Sunday which claimed the life of 10 people instantly. Two more gave up the ghost on the way to hospital. The crash at Tula area, between Bangal and Garissa town, involved a Nasib Sacco bus that had left the capital Nairobi on Sunday evening. According to reports reaching me, the bus was conveying 50 passengers and rammed the trailer that had stalled on the road.

The trailer transporting cement rammed into the bus and tore away windows and a section of the roof, injuring many. The dead include four women and eight men.

The injured were rushed to Garissa Referral Hospital and other health centres in Tula. Eye witnesses said the lorry developed mechanical problem and stalled on the road hence the accident.
