NIS and NIMC commences enforcement of NIN numbers on new electronic passport

The National Identity Management, NIMC, and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have made plans to initiate implementation of the National Identification Number (NIN) on the new upgraded 10 years legitimacy e-international passport.

The President, had on Tuesday, fifteenth January 2019 while revealing the new upgraded e-international passport with a 10-year legitimacy, coordinated that the NIN which is issued by the NIMC be embedded as extra information in the new travel papers.

This was made known by Loveday Chika Ogbonna, Head, Corporate Communications National Identity Management Commission and Sunday James, Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Immigration Service.

This determination to initiate implementation was agreed on after a cordiality call by the Comptroller General of NIS, Muhammad Babandede MFR to the Director General NIMC, Engr. Aliyu Aziz on Monday at the Commission’s home office.

The DG/CEO NIMC, expressed that the Commission had enhanced its software and framework to empower Nigerians get their’s done in micro seconds.

The DG, NIMC additionally showered encomiums on the NIS for their constant responsibility to satisfying the Commission’s mandate.

He repeated to the public that for the following three years, NIMC will focus on the issuance of the NIN on all International passports until further notice.

I just hope they will be able to get this done with no glitches and problems whatsoever 😊.
