Early Life of Tia-Clair Toomey

Tia-Clair Toomey was born on July 22, 1993, in Nambour, Queensland, Australia, to parents Debbi and Brandon – both of whom were cane farmers. She grew up on the Sunshine Coast with her two younger sisters. Toomey has an extensive history in education. As a child, she attended a local primary school in the nearby town of North Arm.

When she was 12, her parents lost their employment due to the closure of their sugar mill. Consequently, they moved to Weipa, another coastal town. There, she enrolled at the Western Cape college. She changed schools once again in 2009 by boarding the Townsville Grammar School.

After her graduation in 2011, she decided to pursue a career in nursing and enrolled at the Queensland University of Technology in Queensland capital, Brisbane. However, she dropped out of university six months into her first year to focus on her relationship with Shane Orr instead.

While in school, Toomey used to run track. She remained athletic throughout her childhood and teenage. Her boyfriend, Shane Orr, a rugby player, introduced CrossFit to Toomey as a way for her to maintain her athleticism and dexterity. This would turn out to be life-changing for the university dropout.
